A Cozy Place

It is very rewarding to come home and plop down on your living room couch and just enjoy the coziness of your home. But then, before you can do that, you have to make an effort to make your home cool and cozy or as my friend would say "cozy-fy" it.

Making a room look very cozy may range from being simple to being complicated. It may be enough to just add comfy and fluffy throws in there and presto, you have a comfy living room. But, we all have our own concept of what looks cozy.

Fortunately, there are sure-fire ways to make a room cozy and you can find them here. Some of them involve using really intricate lighting. For that, I think you would have to shell out some serious money. But if you have enough cash to spend on these, it would be a good investment. After all, it would be for your comfort.

Other techniques are just as easy as coming up with great ideas for Valentines Day. These tips include using comfortable furnishings like throw pillows and similar things. These tips would really come in handy and hopefully, they can help you make that home of yours really cozy.

If You Are Renting

Decorating a home involves a lot of things that you should consider. It is not so complicated if you own the home that you will be decorating. But if you are just renting it, you would have to take into consideration other things such as the length of your stay or the limitations of your agreement with the owner of the house. There are a lot of people who are still into renting homes although the number of evictions has risen.

First, you have to understand the terms of your rental. There are cases that you might not be permitted to change furniture or other minuscule things such as changing the curtain colors. After you have a clear picture of what you are not supposed to do, then you can easily formulate a plan to dress up the home you are renting.

After that, you should also think about whether you are planning to stay in your rented home for a long time or a short period. This is important as you do not want to decorate your home with things that would last a lifetime but will only dwell on it for a short time. It would be a waste of money and of course, you might end up regretting your decision which we all know is a biog no-no.

These are just a couple of suggestions to you if you are renting a home and are planning to decorate it as part of your Valentines Day activities.

Organize To Improve

An ideal home for most of us is a clutter-free home. I said for most of us as there are people who loved their room to be in an "ordered chaos". You know, the room most people will frown upon but the owner of the room does not seem to mind and can easily locate an item in his or her cluttered room.

For people who do not want a cluttered living room or any room in their home for that matter, there are simple ways to organize a home to improve its appearance. Luckily for us, Rental Decorating Digest have these tips for us:

  • Every item you have, no matter what it is, should have a designated home. For instance, the home for your magazines might be your magazine holder, which is located on your bookshelf. Or your home for your extra file folders and labels, might be the top shelf of your office supplies cabinet.
  • When you remove something from its home, the best thing to do when you’re done using it, is to put it away. Don’t give clutter a chance to form. Put it away now. You’ll find it when you need it, and your environment will remain clutter-free.
  • If you DON’T need a piece of paper, get rid of it immediately. Either recycle it, or give it to the appropriate party. If you DO need a piece of paper, file it right now. Don’t put it down, even for a minute. Either place it in your filing cabinet, your Tickler file, your bill paying system, etc. If you take the time to file it now, it won’t stand a chance of growing into a huge pile.
  • Always remember to place your emphasis on quality over quantity. In other words, it’s not important to have a lot of things, many of which you never use
  • Being organized actually entails ‘finding everything you need when you need it, and getting everything done when it’s due.’ If you can master these two things, you are well on your way to being organized.

Hope those tips will help you in keeping your home organized. You should remember that the battle against clutter is always raging on so you should take heed of these pointers. It might not give you ideas for Valentines Day but at least it will keep your home clutter free.
